BRIDGIT HARTLAND-JOHNSON

Senior Consultant – Energy Systems Specialist

Bridgit Hartland-Johnson is a board-level energy leader with 20+ years’ experience across strategy, regulation and infrastructure. Since 2014 she has shaped the UK’s grid-scale storage market at Siemens and Ørsted. At Siemens she helped build the early storage business (foundational to the Fluence JV), became UK Head of Energy Storage in 2016 creating a GW-scale pipeline, and in 2017 designed finance solutions with Siemens Bank to accelerate adoption.

At Ørsted from 2018, she set the UK BESS strategy, integrated the company’s first commercial project, and secured first-of-a-kind consents enabling storage co-located with major wind assets. She then drove system-integration innovation for offshore wind, shaping co-located storage for Hornsea 3, leading feasibility on green-gas electrification (Project NEOS), and coordinating grid alignment with stakeholders.

Appointed Chief Specialist/Director for Project Development (System Integration) in January 2023, she led first-of-a-kind initiatives (hybrid interconnectors, integration hubs, dual-market export, long-duration storage), secured governance and funding for high-CapEx programmes, influenced UK policy (including LDES cap-and-floor), and co-chaired Ørsted’s Women’s Network. She now focuses on non-executive and advisory work.
